Imperia (Maggio) Evans
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Imperia (Maggio) Evans on Monday, February 5, 2024. She peacefully departed at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace.
Imperia was the beloved wife of the late Donald R. Evans for 63 years, who passed away on Sunday, April 14th, a loving mother to Christopher R. Evans, and a cherished Nonna to Eleanor R. Evans. She was also a dear sister to Victoria Fleming and Anthony Maggio, and a beloved aunt to nieces and her nephews.
Born in the town of Alvito and growing up in Rome, Italy, Imperia was a decorated track and field athlete in her youth. Attending and graduating from the University of Rome, later immigrating to the U.S., she made her home with family in Pittsburgh, PA. Gifted with intelligence, sophistication and grace, Imperia quickly rose through the professional ranks as a Vice President in the International finance industry in an era which rarely afforded women such opportunities. She later became a successful entrepreneur in the industry.
Speaking five languages, incredibly well-traveled, quick-witted and kind-hearted, Imperia made her mark in every room she entered. From flying Concorde to knowing the best-kept secret restaurants and resorts across Europe, she was always excited to share her passion for these spots with friends and family. Beyond her professional achievements, she was often found enjoying time in her garden and kitchen, where she and Donald shared many cherished moments together. Imperia found joy in her family, especially time with her son and granddaughter.
No Visitation. A Funeral Mass for both Imperia and Donald will be held on Friday, April 26th at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Scholastica Church, 309 Brilliant Avenue, Aspinwall. Interment at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
Arrangements by Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home, Aspinwall.
